Lethbridge Polytechnic has been offering industry-driven agriculture programming for the past 50 years. Knowledgeable instructors will guide you through two more years of science-based training, strengthened through applied research opportunities, as you complete your Bachelor of Agriculture Science degree. After graduation, you will be eligible to receive your Professional Agrologist (PAg) designation from the Alberta Institute of Agrologists. This distinction puts the polytechnic’s degree program on par with the University of Alberta and the University of Saskatchewan.

Admission Requirements

New applicants are accepted into the Post-Diploma Bachelor of Agriculture Science program for Fall (September) term.

General Admissions Requirements

All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge Polytechnic programs, as indicated in the Admission section of this calendar.

Academic Requirements

All applicants must satisfy the following requirements (or equivalencies):
• Grade 12 Math (equivalent to Alberta's Math 30-2 or a higher level Math)
• Biology 30
• Chemistry30

Program Entry Options

Students who have previously completed the Agriculture Science - Agronomy diploma from Lethbridge Polytechnic may be eligible to enter the Bachelor of Agriculture Science post-diploma degree.

Transfer students from an approved diploma program in agriculture sciences or another recognized subject may be accepted into the Bachelor of Agriculture Science post-diploma degree after being assessed on an individual basis.

A minimum GPA of 2.00 or equivalent is required for admission.

Students coming straight from high school, or those without a completed post-secondary credential in a related subject, should enter into the Bachelor of Agriculture Science program.completed post-secondary credential in a related subject, will enter directly into the first year of the Bachelor of Agriculture Science program.

Graduation

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students are awarded a Bachelor of Agriculture Science degree.

Crop Technology Diploma

Graduates of Lakeland College's Crop Technology Diploma are eligible for admission into Lethbridge Polytechnic's Bachelor of Agriculture Science. Applicants must have a minimum 2.00 GPA, and successful completion of Chemistry 30, Mathematics 30-2 (or higher), and Biology 30. Students are encouraged to take PLT-2264 or IRR-2252 as open elective options during their degree. Students should contact an Academic Advisor at Lethbridge Polytechnic for further information.

The Bachelor of Agriculture Science post-diploma degree program is delivered through a blended format and is intentionally designed to include on-campus, face-to-face learning as well as online delivery.

Blended

This program includes both face-to-face/on-campus and online delivery in both synchronous (learning occurs in real-time on a set schedule) and asynchronous (learning does not occur at the same time or same place) formats.
