A decade-long tradition continues at Lethbridge Polytechnic with employees, students, alumni and community members raising the Progressive Pride Flag in a show of support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

After two years of significant change, including shifts in enrolment, financial pressures and internal restructuring, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Board of Governors has approved a balanced operating budget for 2026-27 and reviewed projected balanced budgets for 2027-28 and 2028-29.

Agriculture Sciences – Agronomy student Paul Skretting has been named valedictorian for Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Spring 2026 Convocation class. He will lead the procession of graduates and speak at the afternoon ceremony planned for 2 p.m. May 22 in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium. 

A historic collaborative relationship between four southern Alberta post-secondary schools will create a shared vision for the future of higher education in the region and further solidify southern Alberta as a destination for post-secondary learners.

The University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Polytechnic are joining forces to host the 2026 Western North-Western Region Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (WNRCASN) conference from April 26 to 28 at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge.

Applications are now open for Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Pre-Veterinary Medicine diploma, launching fall 2026. 

On average, Canadians employed in full-time work are sedentary, or stationary, for nearly 70 per cent of their day. Fortunately, small changes can make a difference. Diane Gallagher, project co-ordinator, and Caylee Vogel, program administrator, with Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Be Fit for Life Centre share practical tips to reduce the negative physical effects of a sedentary work style. 

On February 6, Lethbridge Polytechnic helped celebrate the grand opening of the Southern Alberta Collegiate Institute (SACI), a milestone years in the making and a powerful new opportunity for students across southern Alberta.

Lethbridge Polytechnic has signed a 20-year land lease renewal agreement with the Government of Alberta for its 395-acre research farm east of Lethbridge. The agreement, signed in July, reinforces a long-term relationship between the polytechnic and the provincial government as they work to expand applied agricultural research operations in response to industry needs.

Ryan Straschnitzki, former Humboldt Bronco and wheelchair basketball Paralympic hopeful, will headline the 2026 speaker series. The event, presented by long-time Lethbridge businessperson Bruce McKillop and in partnership with Excite Lethbridge, will be held March 4 at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre.
