Lethbridge Polytechnic is now accepting nominations for Honouring Excellence 2026. Established in 1992, these awards recognize distinguished alumni who, through their perseverance and leadership, have made exceptional contributions to their professions and communities.

“As chair of the alumni advisory council and a past honouree, I know how meaningful it is to be recognized through Honouring Excellence,” says Kathy Veres Sassa (Nursing 1991). “With nominations now open for the 2026 awards, our team is excited to once again celebrate the remarkable achievements of Lethbridge Polytechnic alumni who are making a difference.”

Alumni can be nominated for one of these four awards:

  • Career Virtuoso – Awarded to alumni who have made significant contributions to their professional field through diligence, talent and dedication. Career Virtuoso Award winners are the inventors, creators and leaders who have shown a steady rise to success that is recognized by their peers and in their industry.
  • Community Leader – Presented to Lethbridge Polytechnic graduates who have made contributions to their community through work or personal interests. Award winners are those with the drive to improve the lives of fellow citizens.
  • Distinguished Alumni – Established in 1992 to commemorate the polytechnic’s 35th anniversary, this prestigious award recognizes graduates who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, made a significant contribution to their communities and demonstrated service to the polytechnic and its students.
  • Rising Star – Recognition for those who, within 10 years of graduation from Lethbridge Polytechnic, have left trails of success as they hurtle above the crowd to claim their places as driven innovators in their professions.

To be considered for an Honouring Excellence Award, nominees must have graduated from Lethbridge Junior College, Lethbridge Community College, Lethbridge College, Lethbridge Polytechnic or by the nature of the program transferred to another institution to complete their studies. Those who completed trades programs, apprenticeship training or the Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta program at Lethbridge Polytechnic are also eligible.

Nomination packages must be submitted before Jan. 30. Nomination criteria and further details on the nomination process can be found on the Lethbridge Polytechnic Honouring Excellence . Award recipients will be celebrated at an event in spring 2026.
