The Lethbridge Polytechnic Honouring Excellence awards are now open for nominations, presenting a great opportunity to recognize the best of our graduates from the polytechnic’s rich institutional history. Since 1992, these awards have celebrated those whose resolve and dedication have driven them to excel in their careers and become leaders in their communities.
"As a previous honouree myself, I can attest to how impactful it is to not only be nominated but recognized for such an award,” said Chelsey De Groot (Child and Youth Care 2010, General Studies 2012, Justice Studies 2015). “Honouring Excellence gives us the opportunity to shine a light on some of the amazing alumni in our community and we are looking forward to learning all about our nominees this year."
Former graduates can be nominated for one of these four awards:
- Distinguished Alumni – Established in 1992 to commemorate the institution’s 35th anniversary, this prestigious award recognizes graduates who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, made a significant contribution to their communities and demonstrated service to the institution and its students.
- Community Leader – Presented to graduates who have made contributions to their community through work or personal interests, award winners are those with the drive to improve the lives of fellow citizens.
- Career Virtuoso – Awarded to alumni who have made significant contributions to their professional field through diligence, talent and dedication, Career Virtuoso Award winners are the inventors, creators and leaders who have shown a steady rise to success that is recognized by their peers and in their industry.
- Rising Star – Recognition for those who, within 10 years of graduation from the institution, have left trails of success as they hurtle above the crowd to claim their places as driven innovators in their professions.
To be considered for an Honouring Excellence award, nominees must have graduated from Lethbridge Junior College, Lethbridge Community College, Lethbridge College, Lethbridge Polytechnic or by the nature of the program transferred to another institution to complete their studies. Those who completed trades programs, apprenticeship training or the Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta program at Lethbridge College/Polytechnic are also eligible.
Nomination packages must be submitted before Jan. 21, with award recipients celebrated at an event in spring 2025.
