Hundreds of new Lethbridge College students are set to visit campus Friday for the winter semester’s New Student Orientation (NSO).

Two students look at their phones.
Students can refer to their phones for class information, schedules and locations.

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a check-in and service fair in Centre Core. An institutional welcome will follow at 10:30 a.m. and will include remarks from Lethbridge College President and CEO Dr. Brad Donaldson. Emmerson Reyes, Lethbridge College alum and interim manager of Enterprise Systems – Information Technology Services, will share some personal experiences from his time as a student, while Stefan Joseph, Lethbridge College Students’ Association (LCSA) president, will bring greetings from the LCSA.

Program orientations will run from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a complimentary pizza lunch with the LCSA from noon to 1:15 p.m. in The Cave (CE1300). Campus tours will be offered throughout the day. Tours will be based on student preference and can include all of campus, support services only, or other areas of interest. An additional welcome event for international students will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

“New Student Orientation, whether it’s the fall or winter version, is a great way for incoming students to get to know their instructors and classmates and familiarize themselves with campus and the services available to them,” says Sara Riehl, student transition and engagement manager, Student Affairs. “We want to do everything we can to help new students feel at ease when they start their post-secondary journey with us, and NSO is an important part of that.”

Students who are new to Lethbridge College are encouraged to attend Winter NSO on Jan. 5. Registration can be done on the Lethbridge College website. Online learners are also welcome to attend. Parking in student or visitor lots will be free for the event.

The first day of classes for the winter semester is Monday, Jan. 8.
