Condolences go out to the family, friends, colleagues and students of Jody Alston, a long-time instructor in Lethbridge College’s English Language Centre, who passed away suddenly Saturday. She was 65.

Jody Alston

Alston joined Lethbridge College in January 2003, and spent the last two decades working in the English Language Centre (ELC). She devoted her entire career to teaching English language learners at Lethbridge College, the University of Lethbridge, and for many years, in Korea.

The Lethbridge College flag will be lowered in honour of her service to Lethbridge College and our students.

“It’s at times like these, we realize how much difference one person can make in our community,” said Dr. Brad Donaldson, Lethbridge President and CEO. “My heartfelt condolences go out to Jody’s family, friends, colleagues and students.”

Karen Smith, manager of the English Language Centre, described Alston as “the backbone and light of the centre,” an exceptional teacher who cared deeply for her students.

"She was revered by everyone who taught with her and her students,” Smith said. “She changed so many lives.”
