Honouring Excellence - Nominations are now openNominations are now open for Lethbridge College’s 2023 Honouring Excellence Awards.

Each year, the college celebrates the success of its outstanding alumni community by presenting four inspiring members with Honouring Excellence Awards. These awards recognize college graduates who have experienced early success, risen to the top of their careers and made significant contributions to their industries and their communities.

“The conversations we have, when reviewing Honouring Excellence submissions, last longer and longer each year because nominees are continually moving the bar higher,” says Jordan Karst (Communication Arts – Broadcast Journalism, 2005), Alumni Advisory Council chair. “It’s also incredible to see the range of nominations we receive, from graduates excelling in traditional industries to those leading the way in new fields with cutting edge technology. It’s no longer a surprise to learn about Lethbridge College alumni being innovators – it’s expected and that’s a pretty great feeling.”

Anyone can help shine a spotlight on these alumni by submitting a nomination package before Jan. 19, 2023.

Lethbridge College graduates can be nominated for one of these four awards:

  • Distinguished Alumni – Established in 1992 to commemorate the college's 35th anniversary, this prestigious award recognizes college graduates who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, made a significant contribution to their communities and demonstrated service to the college and its students.
  • Community Leader – Presented to Lethbridge College graduates who have made contributions to their community through work or personal interests. Award winners are those with the drive to improve the lives of fellow citizens.
  • Career Virtuoso – Awarded to alumni who have made significant contributions to their professional field through diligence, talent and dedication. Career Virtuoso Award winners are the inventors, creators and leaders who have demonstrated a steady rise to success that is recognized by their peers and in their industry.
  • Rising Star – Presented to those who, within 10 years of graduation from Lethbridge College, have left trails of success as they hurtle above the crowd to claim their places as driven innovators in their professions.

To be considered for an Honouring Excellence Award, nominees must have graduated from Lethbridge Junior College, Lethbridge Community College or Lethbridge College or by the nature of the program transferred to another institution to complete his or her studies. Those who completed trades programs, apprenticeship training or the Nursing Education in Southwestern Alberta program at Lethbridge College are also eligible.

Award recipients will be celebrated March 23, 2023, at a ceremony on campus.
