News Release
Jun 2, 2021

A strong southern Alberta wind may have dashed Lethbridge College’s initial plans for a Movie on the Coulees last fall, but southern Albertans are resilient. So, by popular demand, Movie on the Coulees has been rescheduled. The new date for the drive-in theatre is Saturday, June 26, with two showings at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

This free, one-night-only experience will feature a showing of the 1985 cult classic The Goonies. Presented by Lethbridge College Alumni Engagement and Fresh Air Cinema, ticket priority will go to all those who had tickets for the previously-scheduled September showing. Ticket holders will be contacted directly and will have the option to choose which showing they attend.

“We planned this event to engage with our alumni and the members of our community who help to make Lethbridge College such a great place.” says Stephanie Savage, Lethbridge College Alumni Engagement coordinator. “The wind may have derailed our original plans, but it didn’t stop us. We are thankful to have another opportunity to spend a memorable evening with our amazing community.”

The drive-in theatre will be set up in parking lot F on the east side of campus and will feature a new, wind-resistant LED screen. If additional tickets are available, they will be offered first to Lethbridge College alumni, employees and students, and then to the general public.

Tickets are required, as no drive-up customers are allowed. Parking will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the exception of over-sized vehicles, which may be asked to park in designated areas. Every spot will be able to see the screen and hear the movie.

Movie-goers are encouraged to bring their own snacks and drinks, as concessions will not be available. Outdoor washrooms will be set up, but patrons will not be able to access campus facilities.

A full list of frequently asked questions about Movie on the Coulees can be found on the college’s website.
