New Lethbridge College students should check their mailboxes and doorsteps, as Lethbridge College delivers a taste of New Student Orientation directly to their homes. Kodiaks Kits have been sent to all new students as a way to welcome them to the college and invite them to be a part of the college’s “We are all Kodiaks” philosophy.
The specially designed kits include both important information for new students and goodies to welcome them to the college.
“Because of the unique nature of the upcoming academic year, we have students who will be taking classes in a variety of ways and from a variety of locations,” says Nancy Russell, Dean of Student Affairs. “But what they have in common is they’re all an important part of our college, and we want them to feel connected. The Kodiaks Kits are one way we can show them we’re excited for them to join us and to give them a feel of what we’re all about.”
The distinctive blue and white boxes began showing up at the homes of new Lethbridge College students last week. The Kodiaks Kits include a welcome letter, a new student checklist, a description of the college’s Blackfoot name, a pair of Lethbridge College socks, and many other items designed to help them be ready and get them excited for what happens next – the start of classes. Students also have a chance to win $100 Lethbridge College gift cards by sharing their kits on Instagram using the hashtags #LCnso20 and #WeAreAllKodiaks.
The traditional in-person New Student Orientation has been replaced by an online version on Sept. 8 that will get students prepared for the year ahead. Some trades programs began classes today, while the first day of classes for most other programs is Sept. 9.
The college is delivering Fall 2020 curriculum through its flexible learning environment that includes most classes being held online, with some labs and hands-on learning experiences taking place on campus.
