Engineering Design and Drafting receives national accreditation
A representative of Technology Accreditation Canada will present the faculty of Lethbridge College’s Engineering Design and Drafting program with a certificate recognizing national program accreditation. The presentation will be held in the Garden Court restaurant. Accreditation provides students with the confidence that the skills and knowledge learned during their time in the program are valued by employers.

The Garden Court restaurant will be offering fine evening dining, featuring gourmet meals prepared by Lethbridge College Culinary Careers students. A day to promote academic honesty
Lethbridge College will join educational institutions around the world for the fourth annual Day of Action Against Contract Cheating. The day is devoted to making students aware of the consequences of academic dishonesty and encouraging them to take a pledge to #DefeatTheCheat and #ExcelWithIntegrity. Look for activities and games in Centre Core, including prizes for students taking the pledge. Contract cheating occurs when students contract a third party, paid or unpaid, to contribute to or complete an assignment or other academic work that the student takes credit for. This might include purchasing an assignment from an online platform; paying someone to write an exam; getting help that goes beyond editing to writing most of an assignment; or using friends, family members, peers or others to complete assignments. Contract cheating has become a billion-dollar industry worldwide. We have experts who have done research on academic integrity primed and ready to talk about this important issue.

Lethbridge College has two sessions planned this month to help people decide whether it’s time to come back to school. Returning to Learning Workshops are for anyone who has taken one or more years away from school. This is a chance to learn about program opportunities, flexible delivery options, financial and student awards, residence life and more. The next session is Saturday, Oct. 19. Registration is required.

Join us for Indigenous Celebration Day
Lethbridge College, also known by our Blackfoot name Ohkotoki’aahkkoiyiiniimaan, which means Stone Pipe, celebrates culture with an Indigenous Celebration Day in Val Matteotti Gymnasium. The day includes song, dance, drumming and displays by Indigenous organizations, jewelry, and traditional arts and crafts. This is a free event.

College students in Cor Van Raay Agribusiness Case Competition
Students from Lethbridge College will be competing in the 5th annual Cor Van Raay Agribusiness Case Competition this weekend. Teams of five students each will have four hours to analyze a written case and develop a solution. Each team will deliver a 15-minute presentation of their solution to a panel of judges with expertise in agribusiness and agriculture. Teams are vying for a share of $2,000 in prize money. This year’s competition will be held at the University of Lethbridge campus. Steve Janzz, chief client officer at Agriculture Financial Services Corporation, will provide the keynote speech at the networking reception starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Students’ Union Ballrooms. The competition starts at 8 a.m., Saturday in Markin Hall, with presentations starting at noon. (Please note presentations are closed to media.) An awards dinner is scheduled from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Garden Court restaurant at Lethbridge College.

Kodiaks volleyball season starts at home; Junior and Senior High Appreciation Night
It’s promising to be a hugely exciting season for Lethbridge College Kodiaks volleyball, particularly with the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Volleyball Championship coming to the Val Matteotti Gymnasium in February. The men’s volleyball team had its best season in program history last year, earning an ACAC silver medal. The road to the championship begins with the home opener against the SAIT Trojans. The women’s game starts at 6 p.m.; men’s game at 8 p.m. It is also Junior and Senior High Appreciation Night, giving these students free admission to the game, free food and a chance to win prizes. Watch for plenty of youthful energy in the gym. Admission is free to students with Lethbridge College ID cards; $10 for adults; $5 for seniors, youth and alumni. College employees and students with University of Lethbridge ID cards can enjoy the games for $4.
