Tickets now available for gluten-free, dairy-free dinner

Tickets are now available for a gluten- and dairy-free dinner, prepared by Lethbridge College Culinary Careers students. This 10th annual event will be held March 5 in the Garden Court Restaurant with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. This is a family-friendly dinner with tickets costing $44 for adults and $25 for children. Prices include GST and a glass of wine or one soft drink. Tickets are available at Nutter’s Bulk and Natural Foods or by calling Lethbridge College at 403-320-3230. Deadline for tickets is noon on Feb. 28.

Learn more about mental health and illness

It’s Reading Week break for students, but the learning doesn’t stop at Lethbridge College. Employees are invited to attend The Inquiring Mind, a workshop about mental health and mental illness. Participants learn about reducing the negative attitudes toward mental illness, supporting peers with mental health problems, and maintaining their own mental health and resilience.

Lethbridge College SLAMS quick hits of learning

Lethbridge College’s Educational Development Team is organizing its second annual morning of SLAMS. SLAMS are three- to five-minute information sessions. This event invites all employees to attend three SLAMS at the top of every hour. Then they can ask questions or learn more about the SLAMS of interest to them.


Wednesday, Feb. 20 and Thursday, Feb. 21, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This training session could save a life

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day course on how to intervene with an individual who is suicidal. Participants will learn to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and to work with them to create a plan to support their immediate safety. ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers.

College employees can learn how to respond to sexual assault disclosures
With students on a break, it’s the perfect time for faculty and staff to do learning of their own. One of this week’s offerings is a two-day session on First Responder to Sexual Assault and Abuse Training. This is comprehensive training open to all employees to help them assess and respond to disclosures of sexual assault and sexual abuse.
