LC-Coulee-Fest.jpg Get up-close with Canadian military equipment, play around in virtual reality, receive a free massage or come face-to-face with a grizzly bear. All are possible at Coulee Fest, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Lethbridge College.

Coulee Fest is a free festival with fun for the entire family. One of the highlights this year is a number of one-of-a-kind interactive experiences provided by Lethbridge College programs.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the School of Justice Studies will have a massive display featuring local military, police, sheriffs, commercial vehicle enforcement and fire departments and organizations. There will be vehicles, mobile command posts, non-functioning weapons and other operational equipment on hand, and everyone will have the opportunity to speak with personnel to get to know the important jobs these public safety services do to keep us all safe. There will also be an interactive experience for children where they can take part in fingerprinting, suspect sketching and physical fitness exercises to earn prizes.

LC-Coulee-Fest-Massage.jpg Other interactive program exhibits include:

  • Learning Commons and Library – Try out virtual reality and enter to win a VR headset
  • Massage Therapy – Free massages from students
  • Nursing – In celebration of the program’s 50th anniversary, there will be an interactive display featuring training equipment and the chance to get temporary tattoos
  • Environmental Sciences – An on-site display of the Hubbard Collection, a wildlife taxidermy collection featuring more than 60 species
  • Early Childhood Education and Exercise Science – Children can experience the college’s one-of-a-kind outdoor play space
  • Agriculture Sciences – A food tasting experience that will shine a light on the locally grown products available in southern Alberta

LC-Coulee-Fest-Nursing.jpgAs well, the Centre for Applied Arts and Sciences will run a 50/50 draw to raise money for the Lethbridge College Students’ Association Borrow-a-Textbook initiative; and Corporate and Continuing Education will run the Coulee Fest Crawl contest where participants can enter a draw by visiting a variety of Coulee Fest areas.

Interactive program experiences will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at Coulee Fest.

The third annual Coulee Fest is a free family festival that features live music, interactive program showcases, 16 food trucks, family fun areas, What the Junk vintage market and a beer gardens. Coulee Fest runs from 1 to 7 p.m. on Lethbridge College’s east lawn, concluding with a headlining concert from award-winning singer-songwriter Leeroy Stagger on the Brighter Together Stage at 6 p.m.
