Give What You Can campaign begins

The Buchanan Library’s fall Food for Fines campaign runs now through Dec. 20. Students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members are invited to Give What You Can, by making a donation of nonperishable food at the library. If you have outstanding overdue fees, making a donation may be a way to have those fines forgiven. Some restrictions apply. Visit the library for details. All donations will go to the Lethbridge College Students’ Association food bank, which is experiencing high demand.

Bus loop closed for the week

The College Drive bus loop in front of Lethbridge College is scheduled to be closed to all traffic from the corner of 30 Avenue South this week to allow for construction work involving a large crane that will be lifting a chiller to the roof of Centre Core. For the safety of students and staff, the lifting will be done in overnight hours, from 10 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, and 10 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. During those times, Centre Core and the Physical Education Building will be closed. If weather interferes, the buildings will be closed overnight Wednesday and Thursday as needed. The Lethbridge Transit bus stop will be relocated north of the 30 Avenue/College Drive intersection for the full week. Motorists will still be able to access parking lots around campus using 30 Avenue and 36 Avenue South as normal. This work will replace the original chiller that’s served Lethbridge College since Centre Core opened in 1985. Thank you for respecting the barricades as you visit campus this week.

Be kind to a college student — it’s finals week

It’s final exam week at Lethbridge College as the fall term comes to an end. For some students, they’ll have a choice about when to write their final, thanks to the flexibility provided by the Satellite Testing Lab. The service started in Fall 2017 with 5,213 exams written during that term in the satellite space for full-class testing. That grew to 6,580 exams written in the Winter 2018 semester. During finals week, students in courses taught by faculty who’ve booked the satellite testing service will have a choice of when to write their exam during a three-day span, so they can choose a time when they feel their best (evening hours are great for non-morning people) or when it works best around family, work and other commitments. The feedback to this service has been excellent from participating students and faculty.

Monday, Dec. 10 to Thursday, Dec. 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Buh-bye stress, hello poochies

To help students cope with the stress of final exams, Lethbridge College will be holding Doggy De-Stress. Drop by TE1228 to meet some lovable pooches. There will be different dogs scheduled each day, so pop by daily to meet them all.
