Lethbridge College is pleased to announce Dr. Jeanine Webber as the new dean for the Centre for Justice and Human Services. She joins the college from Humber College and will begin her new role on June 11.

“Jeanine’s wealth of experience in the field of justice studies, both academically and professionally, will provide tremendous opportunities for the college,” says Dr. Samantha Lenci, Lethbridge College Provost and Vice President Academic. “We are proud of the industry-leading curriculum and research already underway in our Justice and Human Services programs, and we are excited for Jeanine to support that work and identify new opportunities in these fields.”

Webber joins Lethbridge College from Humber College in Toronto, where she was associate dean in the School of Social and Community Services. She previously held several faculty positions in the Bachelor of Applied Arts – Criminal Justice degree program, and the Community and Justice Services diploma program.

Prior to joining Humber, Webber worked in multiple settings within corrections including half-way houses, federal parole offices, a maximum-security penitentiary and a federal community correctional centre. Her positions included federal parole officer, programs officer, regional trainer and head of correctional programs. She also worked in a children's mental health agency as a researcher conducting program evaluation of a cognitive-behavioural program for children with conduct disorder.

Jeanine has completed program evaluation projects within “real world” community settings. Her research interests include program evaluation studies, community policing, social justice and crime prevention. She is currently the recipient of a Social Science and Humanities Research Grant to evaluate the Toronto Police Services’ Neighbourhood Policing Program. She is also the recipient of a community development grant supporting the development of a coalition of youth and community workers working to prevent youth gang involvement. Jeanine was awarded Humber College’s Research Excellence award in 2016.

The Centre for Justice and Human Services includes the Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant, Criminal Justice – Policing, Justice Studies – Bachelor of Applied Arts, Correctional Studies, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Police Cadet Training programs.
