Fifteen post-secondary partners have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will further enhance education options for students pursuing a business certificate, diploma or degree.

The agreement allows students who have successfully completed the equivalent of at least one academic term (15 credits) with an Alberta partner institution to receive full credit toward any other Ministry-approved business certificate, diploma or degree program within the Campus Alberta partners.

“This partnership helps strengthen a coordinated adult learning system by enhancing Albertans’ ability to transfer efficiently between providers and programs,” says Nancy Broadbent, Executive Vice President Academic at Portage College and the Alberta Senior Academic Officers Chair. “By focusing on our commitment to student success, this initiative provides Albertans with solutions to find the education path that meets their unique education needs.”

“Our post-secondary system is stronger when we work together to provide high-quality education options to prospective students,” said Susan Bansgrove, Vice President Academics and Research at Grande Prairie Regional College and member of the development team. “These new pathways mean greater access and reduced barriers for students participating in business focused post-secondary education.”

This MOU demonstrates the commitment from post-secondary partners to enhance pathways to learning for Alberta students.

Backgrounder

The concept of Campus Alberta was created in 2002 to formalize and encourage such collaboration and cooperation between the province’s 26 publicly-funded post-secondary institutions. Even before the Campus Alberta concept was established, Alberta’s institutions had been sharing best practices and working together to make Alberta’s post-secondary system a leader.
