Lethbridge College is pleased to host a number of ongoing and special events on campus in the new year.

Additional opportunities may be announced in the weeks ahead, but we wanted to give the media a sense of some of the events and activities now planned. Thanks for covering the many great events and activities happening at Lethbridge College.


Thursday, Jan. 4

  • Winter term begins.

Friday, Jan. 5, women’s game at 6 p.m., men’s game at 8 p.m.

  • The Lethbridge College Kodiaks volleyball teams host Ambrose for games in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium.

Friday, Jan. 12

  • Deadline to nominate candidates for Honouring Excellence awards. Any of the more than 30,000 college graduates, of any age and in any field, are eligible to be nominated for one of four Honouring Excellence awards, based on their work in their careers, in the community and in the college. The awards will be announced on Jan. 29 and will be presented at a recognition event on April 26.

  • The Lethbridge College Kodiaks basketball teams host Red Deer College for games in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium.

Thursday, Jan. 18

  • The 19th annual Tiffin Conference takes place at the Lethbridge Lodge. A one-of-a-kind event in southern Alberta, the conference has been an important platform for discussing current issues and trends in the red meat industry. Over 350 agricultural producers, students and industry experts attend this event every year. Speakers include Elaine Froese, who will speak about farm succession and transition planning, and Greg Peterson of The Peterson Brothers, a young farmer who encourages other young farmers to advocate for agriculture. Tickets are available online.

Friday, Jan. 19, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

  • Lethbridge College Junior/Senior High Appreciation Night is designed to showcase our Kodiaks athletics community to prospective junior and senior high students and basketball teams. Students and their chaperones will be given dinner and free admission to the Kodiaks games. Wearing their school jerseys, prospective students will be able to participate in some fun basketball competitions to win great prizes during half-time for the men’s and women’s games. Students can enter their names in to win a Kodiaks sports camp prize package, and can speak with our recruitment team and get answers to questions about programs, services, athletics and more.

Monday, Jan. 22, to Friday, Jan. 26

  • Lethbridge College will be holding Thrive Week as a self-care challenge and as a way to celebrate community wellness. There will be a variety of events planned throughout the week. All events are free, though registration is required for some activities. See the entire list of events at the end of this release.

Tuesday, Jan. 30

  • The quarterly Lethbridge College Alumni e-newsletter is sent to subscribers today. This update keeps college graduates up to date with highlights of activities on campus, alumni in the news, upcoming events, great benefits only available for our alumni and program initiatives that Lethbridge College grads would be interested in. To register for the newsletter, contact alumni@lethpolytech.ca.

Saturday, Feb. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • The annual Winter Open House takes place on campus. Those interested in what the college has to offer can take campus tours, talk with faculty or representatives from all program areas, explore our wide range of academic programs, student services, and student activities and organizations, visit interactive program areas and apply on the spot. Those who register in advance and attend the Open House are eligible to win a $1,500 tuition credit. Registration information will be available in January.

Ongoing events

Lunch express at the Garden Court restaurant

  • If you want a quick and tasty lunch from one of Lethbridge’s best kept secrets, then Lethbridge College’s Lunch Express in the Garden Court is for you. Prepared by our phenomenal college Culinary program students, the lunch express is served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Garden Court restaurant, and will be available on Jan. 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and Feb. 1. For reservations, call 403-320-3230.

Student massage clinic

  • The student massage clinic re-opens in January with a new group of therapists. The clinic is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. More information is available online. To book your appointment, call Bonnie at 403-329-7274.

Thrive Week

      • Massage Therapy for All by Students!: 10 a.m. to noon in Centre Core. First come, first served.

      • What is Resiliency? Am I Resilient? How Can I Foster It In Others?: 1 to 2 p.m. in TE1228. Registration required.
