Final preparations are underway for Lethbridge College’s Coulee Fest, a celebration 60 years in the making that comes to campus this weekend.

Join us from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, on the east side of campus for a day of live music, entertainment, food trucks, beer gardens, a street market, family fun, campus tours and much more in celebration of the college’s 60th anniversary. The event is completely free, goes rain or shine, and is open to everybody.

“After months of planning, it’s so exciting to know that this incredible event is right around the corner,” says Dr. Paula Burns, Lethbridge College President and CEO. “We are proud of our standing as Canada’s first publicly-funded community college and wanted to throw a party to celebrate and say thank you to everyone in southern Alberta who has supported us over the last 60 years.”

The first 200 people to attend Coulee Fest will receive a swag bag filled with custom Lethbridge College and Coulee Fest merchandise. There are also a limited number of custom-designed Lethbridge College beer cans available in the beer gardens, filled with cream ale from Coulee Brew Co. and Crazy Cakes is baking up a special, limited-edition batch of spudnuts, so there is plenty of incentive to get there early.

Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in to watch the musical acts, including Hippodrome, the Steve Keenan Band, Hurtin’ and Three Finger Shot, wander the many vendors in the street market, or peruse the program exhibitions located in the Garden Court from 2 to 5 p.m. There is free parking on campus, although attendees are encouraged to use public transit, ride their bikes or carpool to Coulee Fest.

Other highlights include tours of the brand new Wind Turbine Technician training program area as part of the Green Energy Doors Open 2017 event, and a first look at Founders’ Square, a beautiful new on-campus area that tells the story of Lethbridge College’s history.

Coulee Fest is made possible thanks to the support of the City of Lethbridge, TD Insurance, Southland International Trucks Ltd., Stuart Olson, Praxair and Hostess Frito-Lay.

A map of the event area is now available.
