For sixty years, Lethbridge College has been a cornerstone of the Lethbridge community. Now, the college is inviting the entire community to help celebrate its 60th anniversary at Coulee Fest, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The free event on the Lethbridge College campus will feature entertainment, music, family activities, campus tours and much more, as the college pauses to celebrate its standing as Canada’s first publicly-funded community college and all of its successes since. Students, alumni, instructors and employees both past and present, as well as friends and partners who have helped to shape the college since 1957 are all invited to return to where it all began.

“We are so excited to open up our campus and invite everyone in for a celebration that can be enjoyed by all ages,” says Dr. Paula Burns, Lethbridge College President and CEO. “We view this as part-homecoming and part-community festival, where we can come together to share memories and have some fun on this campus that has meant so much to so many over its 60 years.”

Coulee Fest will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. and will feature a wide array of entertainment. Local band Hippodrome, which is billed as “Lethbridge’s premier rhythm and groove band,” is the first performer to confirm its attendance.

Other highlights include:

  • Live music and entertainment
  • Family activities
  • Campus tours
  • Food trucks
  • Beer gardens (from 3 to 7 p.m.)
  • Street market

Exciting announcements of more entertainers and vendors will come in the weeks leading up to the occasion.

“We have been honouring our 60th anniversary with 60 weeks of celebrations, and this will be the party that brings all of those celebrations together,” says Burns. “Many people have been working hard to make this a reality, and we look forward to sharing this event with all of southern Alberta.”

Join the college’s Facebook event to stay up-to-date as new Coulee Fest entertainers and vendors are announced. More information on all of Lethbridge College’s 60th anniversary events is available on the college’s website.
