Lethbridge College will host its 32nd annual Career Conference Monday, bringing students, prospective students, Lethbridge College programs and services together with employers and post-secondary transfer institutions from across Canada.

Employers in a variety of fields, from human service organizations to engineering companies, will be in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering potential employees and career planners a chance to learn more about their industries and occupations.

Conversely, some 115+ exhibitors have an opportunity to interact with students and community members and perhaps entice them to a career upon graduation.

“Again this year we have the high numbers of valued employers looking to hire, network, and inform; Lethbridge College programs ready to showcase their specialties; and post-secondary institutions to point out key transfer options,” says Jonathan Legg, the event’s coordinator. “It’s a rare and valuable opportunity for students and the public to network and do career research with key people in pertinent organizations.”

Many businesses who exhibit at the conference are returnees who frequently hire Lethbridge College grads. In addition, many are Lethbridge College alumni who know graduates come equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their field.

The conference is also an opportunity for high school counsellors to learn more about what Lethbridge College has to offer their students. The college will be offering admission information sessions, campus tours and assistance for prospective students to get a head start on the application process.

Media is invited to attend the ceremony recognizing long-term participants in Lethbridge College’s Career Conference from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. in the second floor mezzanine foyer of the PE Building. Those being honoured for five years of participation are: Ace Vegetation, Blood Tribe Police Service, HoneyBee Manufacturing Ltd., and Royal Bank of Canada. Those being recognized for 10 years of participation are: Parascak Family Chiropractic and Stantec Consulting Ltd. CBI Greystoke Home Health is being honoured for 15 years of participation and Green Acres Foundation is being honoured for 20 years participation. Alberta Parks and Lethbridge School District #51 are both being recognized for 30 years of participation.

The Career Conference is free and open to the public.
