Thursday’s annual Tiffin Conference at Lethbridge College will explore the livestock industry from the feedlots to the kitchen. A wide array of speakers will touch on varied topics throughout the day.
John Basarab, senior research scientist at Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, will present on feed efficiency and the benefits of residual feed intake.
David Zino, executive chef and spokesperson for the Beef Culinary Innovation Center, will speak to the umami method of cooking beef and enhancing that savoury flavour.
Keynote speaker Temple Grandin is a designer of livestock handling facilities and a professor of animal science at Colorado State University.
Grandin will present on taking a practical approach to improving animal welfare.
Tickets to the conference are sold out. The Tiffin Conference is made possible through the Ronald Tiffin Agricultural Endowment Fund, established in honour of Ronald W. Tiffin. The goal is to provide world-class learning opportunities to primary producers, agri-business and agriculture students.
The event starts at 11 a.m. in the LaValley Theatres and wraps up at 8:30 p.m. in the DA Electric Barn.
