Next week marks the beginning of classes for Lethbridge College students, and a special visit from Kevin Vallely, is named by the Globe and Mail as one of Canada’s leading adventurers, and is an award-winning architect and editor-at-large for Outpost Magazine.

On Monday, Labour Day, the college will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help students with academic advising, textbooks, registration, residence and provide other vital information.

College Life 101– New Student Orientation, presented by ATB Financial, is Tuesday.  It’s an orientation to new students, showing them the supports and activities available to them throughout the school year.

“We’re proud to support Lethbridge College for the fourth consecutive year presenting College Life 101,” says Rob Smith, vice-president south region, ATB Financial.  “Having the opportunity to partner with Dr. (Tracy) Edwards (Lethbridge College president) and the college executive in providing a meaningful and informative day for students and parents is a great way for ATB Financial to support our community.”

Kevin Vallely recently returned from Antarctica where he and two teammates smashed the world-record for the fastest unsupported trek to the South Pole, beating the previous mark by over 5 days. Kevin has spent much of his life pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the outdoor world. Vallely be speaking to students at 10 a.m. in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium and will be available for media interviews at about 11:15 a.m. Please confirm attendance with Gwen Wirth.

“Providing new students with the knowledge of our essential campus resources affords them the tools needed to support their success,” says Susie Kennedy, registrar and associate vice-president, Enrolment Management and Learner Services. “These resources keep students engaged in balancing their academic, social, personal and physical well-being.”

More than 2,500 new students are entering the college this year. Some 4,000 students in total registered in credit and apprenticeship programs.
