Lethbridge College is now approved to receive funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. (SSHRC)
The intended outcome of research supported by SSHRC is adding to peoples understanding and knowledge of individuals, groups and societies —what we think, how we live, and how we interact with each other and the world around us.
“Adding SSHRC to our existing NSERC only strengthens our prospects for applied research,” says Dr. Tracy Edwards, president and CEO of Lethbridge College. “It provides researchers within the college the opportunity to partner with a vast number of community-based businesses and to strengthen those relationships with existing collaborators.”
The Weatherford project, highlighted in the Winter 2010 edition of Wider Horizons, is a great example of research that would qualify for SSHRC funding. Students and faculty are continually working on applied research through a number of programs at Lethbridge College.
