The Business Training and Development (BTD) department at Lethbridge College hosted a session with Stephen M. R. Covey, New York Times bestselling author tomarks the launch of the BTD 2010-2011 programming year and new directions for the department.

“Business Training and Development has been moving in several exciting directions over the last few months,” says Sean Miles, BTD program administrator. “We have been in the process of developing regional and national training programs and a new executive management training series to meet the specific needs of our clients and the broader community.”

BTD works closely with client organizations and internal and external stakeholders to customize training solutions.

“Trust is a vital factor in the relationships we build,” says Miles. “Once we’ve developed a solid foundation of trust, transparency and respect, we can move forward to work closely with our stakeholders and provide the best possible solutions.”

To reflect this focus, Covey, author of The Speed of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything, will provide session guests with a keynote speech on the ideas and theories outlined in his world-acclaimed publication. Revered by CEOs and academics all over the world as a business and relationship reference, trust, Covey demonstrates, is a hard-edged, economic driver. He states that the ability to establish, grow, extend and restore trust with all stakeholders is the critical leadership competency of the new global economy.

Business Training and Development has been a part of Lethbridge College for many years and is keen to connect further with the community it serves,” says Tracy Edwards, Lethbridge College president and CEO. “Lethbridge College is excited to bring Stephen to the community to speak on this foundational component of success.”
