New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation (NSO) is more than just one day. It's a series of events designed to help you feel prepared, confident and connected before classes begin.
While many program orientations take place on Tuesday, Sept. 8, some programs begin earlier or have orientations scheduled on different dates or at different times. Be sure to check your Lethbridge Polytechnic email regularly for important updates about your program. You can also view the Program Orientation Schedule below for details about your program's orientation.
Throughout August, we'll host a variety of events to help you prepare for your first day of classes, including New Student Campus Tours. These tours are a great opportunity to explore campus, find your classrooms, learn about student services and become familiar with your new environment.

New Student Checklist
Get ready for your first day by working through this checklist of key steps before you arrive on campus. From setting up your tech and registering for orientation to reviewing your schedule and important dates, these tasks will help you feel prepared, confident and ready to start your journey at Lethbridge Polytechnic.
1. Plan Ahead
Accept your offer and pay your deposit
Log into Self-Service and pay the tuition deposit by the deadline listed in your offer.
Apply for student loans and grants
Explore your funding options and apply for awards, loans and grants.
Register for your courses
For some programs, all core courses are pre-registered; for others, students must select and register for their own courses.
Get your study permit
International students who are not Canadian citizens require a student permit issued by IRCC.
Apply for transfer credits
Apply during the transfer evaluation period to receive credit for previous post-secondary courses.
Apply for residence
If you're looking for accommodation and a community, right on campus.
2. After you've registered in courses
Pay your tuition
Log into Self-Service to pay your tuition and fees by the add/drop deadline through PayMyTuition.
Request confirmation of enrolment letter
Some financial institutions require a letter to release RESP funds. Request your letter through MyCreds after you've registered for courses.
Connect with Accessibility Services
Book a meeting with an Access Specialist to discuss your learning barriers or disability and collaborate on developing an accommodation plan
Connect with Academic Advising
Book a meeting with an Academic Advisor to discuss a custom program completion plan, how your program may lead to future opportunities, and more.
View your class schedule in Self-Service
Finish setting up your tech
Check your @lethpolytech email, access Canvas and download key mobile apps
Explore campus
Explore campus through a virtual tour, interactive map or by booking an in-person tour to get to know our spaces before you arrive.
3. Before you start classes
Confirm health and dental coverage
You can opt out before the deadline if you have existing coverage.
Complete NSO course
Complete this online module to learn success strategies, explore Canvas and discover supports and ways to get involved.
Review important dates and deadlines
Review important dates and deadlines, including add/drop, fee payments and the first day of classes.
Request digital student ID
Download myPolytech to request and access your digital student ID card.
Visit the Bookstore
Visit the Bookstore to shop textbooks, Kodiaks swag and gym passes, online or on campus.
Get to know the LPSA
The Lethbridge Polytechnic Students' Association (LPSA) represents students and offers clubs, events and various programming on campus.
Purchase parking pass
Purchase your parking pass through the HONK Mobile app and pick it up at Security.
Attend New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation (NSO) is more than just your first day. It's an opportunity to meet other Lethbridge Polytechnic students, staff and faculty and learn about the supports available to you as a student. Plus, find out just how many ways there are to get involved in student life on campus.
You'll likely also have a program-specific orientation to meet your new classmates and instructors and learn important information about your upcoming classes. We offer additional orientations for Indigenous and international students. The link to register with more information will be sent to your @lethpolytech email address before the semester starts.
