Kenny Corscadden, PhD
Vice-President – Academic and Research
Dr. Kenny Corscadden joined Lethbridge Polytechnic in 2017, first as dean of the Centre for Technology, Environment and Design (CTED) and then as associate vice-president - Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CARIE) in 2018. He joined the Executive Leadership Team in January 2022 as vice-president research and partnerships. In February 2024, his role expanded to vice-president - academic and research.
During his time with CTED, Corscadden built key industry partnerships, particularly in the agriculture sector, and he undertook an inventory of the polytechnic’s research activities. During his time with CARIE, the centre grew exponentially, increasing external research funding from $1.5 million in 2018 to $6.8 million in 2021, and increasing student researchers employed by the polytechnic from six in 2018 to 20 in 2021.
Before joining Lethbridge Polytechnic, Corscadden held several executive positions in engineering companies in the U.K. and Canada. He is a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology in the U.K. Corscadden is an experienced multi-disciplinary researcher and has been published in more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, including a white paper with the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. In July 2024, the Canadian Society for Bioengineering presented Corscadden with the Glenn Downing Award, which recognizes an individual who has produced outstanding work in industry, teaching, research or extension in the area of machinery systems or bioenergy systems.
Corscadden ‘s educational credentials all come from universities in the U.K. and include a Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Science – Engineering, Doctor of Philosophy – Control Systems, and a Master of Business Administration – Technology Transfer.
