Coreen Roth
Vice President - People and Engagement
Coreen Roth came to Lethbridge Polytechnic as the director of Human Resources in 2007, a position she held until she became part of the Executive Leadership Team in July 2013. Her portfolio has since been expanded to include Marketing, Communications, Community Relations, and corporate professional development. Roth is now vice-president - people and engagement.
Roth’s post-secondary education started at Lethbridge Polytechnic, where she earned a Business Administration diploma. She has worked in human resources and financial roles for the former Calgary Health Region and CFCN Television, among other organizations. Today, she is responsible for the strategic leadership of the polytechnic’s Human Resources and the implementation of its People Development Strategy. In her role, she is focused on culture and engagement and building strong relationships, both internal and external to the institution. She has a passion for empowering people and serves as an ambassador for a people-first culture.
Roth is a life-long learner and holds several designations which include Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA-CMA), and Qualified Arbitrator (Q. Arb.). Throughout her education she recalls how much she relied on her instructors at Lethbridge Polytechnic to support and encourage her, and how instrumental they were in helping her achieve her goals. Early in her educational journey, she didn’t realize she would one day be working at the institution that got her started. Education has played such a big part in her life, and in the life of her family. Her son graduated from Lethbridge Polytechnic with his Bachelor of Applied Science in Ecosystem Management degree and is well on his way to an amazing career in the Environmental Sciences space.
Her advice to anyone who is thinking about getting that first credential or furthering their education. Some days will be harder than others and there will be times you will feel like giving up, but if you persevere, work hard, and give it your best every day, you will succeed and find that job, and a career you enjoy and can be proud of. You don’t have to be perfect, just find something you are passionate about and enjoy every day!
