The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a fully computer-delivered English language testing program. It measures competency in four language skills:

  • listening
  • speaking
  • reading
  • writing

Two version of CELPIP are offered at the polytechnic:

The CELPIP-General measures all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts it as proof of English language knowledge for those applying for permanent residency.

The CELPIP-General LS measures two skills: listening and speaking. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts it as proof of English language knowledge for those applying for Canadian citizenship.

To view upcoming test dates at the polytechnic and to register, visit the CELPIP website at celpip.ca.

Why CELPIP?

The CELPIP test is unique from other English language tests in a number of ways. By choosing CELPIP, you will benefit from:

  • a completely computer-delivered test (no human examiners and no separate speaking test appointments)
  • quick online results (choose to have your results in three or eight business days)
  • easy online registration
  • the use of Canadian English and accents
