Starting post-secondary education is exciting—but it also comes with new financial responsibilities. One of the best ways to stay on top of your money and reduce stress is by sticking to a budget.
It’s important to take time to understand when and where your money will come from and where it needs to go. Most students rely on a mix of government student loans, savings (including RESPs), part-time work, and support from family. Awards and scholarships can help too, but they aren’t guaranteed, so it's important not to rely on them alone.
By planning your finances early—applying for student loans, reviewing your income sources, and updating your spending plan—you’ll be in a stronger position to manage your money during the school year.
