SharePoint Domain Change
In July 2025, Lethbridge Polytechnic completed the transition of our Microsoft Cloud services - including SharePoint, OneDrive, and OneNote - to a new domain: lethpolytech.sharepoint.com
This migration was the final step in aligning our Microsoft services with our institutional name change.
What You Need To Know
- All new links will now use @lethpolytech.ca
- Microsoft is temporarily forwarding links from the old @lethbridgecollege.ca domain, but this will end in July 2026
- After that date, any documents, bookmarks, or embedded links using the old domain will no longer work
What You Should Do
- Update your bookmarks, document links, and shared files to the new domain
- Reconfigure any Microsoft Teams tabs, SharePoint web parts, or workflows referencing the old domain
- For links shared externally (outside of Lethbridge Polytechnic), generate and resend updated links
Please contact the ITS Help Desk if you encounter issues or have questions about specific functionalities on your sites.
Fixing Common Issues
Bookmarks
- Your saved bookmarks for SharePoint and OneDrive URLs will no longer work in web browsers or Teams
- Fix: Update your bookmarks with the new URLs (by replacing lethbridecollege.sharepoint.com with lethpolytech.sharepoint.com )
Document Links
- Links to SharePoint or OneDrive sites in Word docs, Excel files and emails will be broken
- Fix: Update these links manually or ask users to update them as they find them
Embedded Content
- SharePoint web parts that display content from other SharePoint sites may not function correctly or display the content as expected
- Fix: Edit the web part and update the URL to the new domain
Custom Apps and Workflows
- Any custom solutions that reference the old domain may stop working
- Fix: Contact ITS to update these references
External Sharing Links
- Links you've shared with contacts outside of Lethbridge Polytechnic will no longer work
- Fix: Generate new sharing links and send them to external users
Microsoft Teams Tabs
- If you have added SharePoint pages or document libraries as tabs in Teams, they might not load correctly
- Fix: Remove the broken tab and add it again using the new URL
