Corrections Education

The Lakeshore Campus of Lethbridge Polytechnic ― through the Centre of Business, Arts and Science ― provides educational training to sentenced remanded individuals at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre as well as remanded individuals at Medicine Hat Remand Centre. Courses were first offered in the late 1970s and have evolved into the program we offer today.

Three educational streams are available for students: Academic Upgrading, Personal Development and Job Employment Training.

Each focuses on a different aspect of inmate education and development but work together to provide meaningful and relevant education to students in the Lethbridge Correctional Centre. All courses are designed based on the needs of an incarcerated individual, the directives of the Lethbridge Correctional Centre, Medicine Hat Remand Centre the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services.

The goal of Lakeshore Campus is to maximize the learning experience for inmates and improve their chances for successful reintegration and productive citizenship in society.

Lethbridge Polytechnic ensures the quality and integrity of the course curriculum, the experience and expertise of the instructors and the effectiveness of course delivery.

The overall goal is to maximize the learning experience for inmates and improve their chances for successful reintegration and productive citizenship in society.
