When will the ceremony be held?

Friday May 22, 2026. Ceremony times are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The specific programs assigned to each ceremony are still to be determined.

Once assigned, please visit the Ceremony and Program Order tab for details about your ceremony time and where your program will assemble

A livestream feed will be available the day before through social media and will be available on the Ceremony page. Full access details will be provided on that page.

What time do I need to be here?

Convocates are required to be in their assigned assembly room (see Ceremony and Program Order tab, this will be updated closer to the event date) 45 minutes prior to the start of their ceremony. Convocates only in the assembly area/rooms.

Encourage your guests to arrive early. Out of respect for the graduates and other guests, late arrivals may not be admitted into the gymnasium once the ceremony is underway.

What about my personal items?

Please do not carry coats, bags, cameras, flowers or other souvenirs with you from the assembly area into the convocate seating area. You are not able to carry personal items across the stage and you may not get back to the same seat during the ceremony. Do not leave items in the assembly rooms.

Items can be checked at the Coat Check room in AN1801 before going to your assembly room. The Coat Check room will only remain open for 30 minutes AFTER the ceremony ends, please be sure to pick up your items immediately after the ceremony.

When and where do I pick up my cap and gown?

Gown packages can be picked up at the Bookstore daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday May 19 until Thursday May 21.

If you are unable to come during these designated times, a friend or family member can pick up your package on your behalf.

If these days/times do not work for you, please email convocation@lethpolytech.ca to discuss other options.

Gowns, stoles, cap and tassel are yours to keep.

I am unable to attend the ceremony, how do I receive my parchment?

Convocates that are unable to attend will have their parchment mailed to them after the ceremony date. Confirm your mailing address is up to date in our system to ensure your parchment reaches you.

  1. Log into Self Service
  2. Select your ID in the top right corner
  3. Select USER PROFILE
  4. Scroll to view and edit (if necessary)
What’s in my gown package?

Our friendly Bookstore staff will give you a package with your souvenir gown, cap, and tassel.

Graduates who identified as Indigenous in our system will receive a Lethbridge Polytechnic Indigenous Buffalo stole. Kodiak Athletes will receive a Kodiaks stole. Both are worn over the academic centre stole and yours to keep.

If you are graduating with Academic Honours With Great Distinction (President’s List with a 4.0 Cumulative Program GPA) you will receive a gold cord which signifies your academic achievement. If you are graduating with Academic Honours with Distinction (Dean’s List with a 3.75-3.99 Cumulative Program GPA) you’ll receive a silver cord, signifying your academic achievement.

Where do I park?

Parking is free on campus Convocation Day. It is recommended that Convocates park in Lots E and F and enter through the Founders Square doors.

Can I bring food or drinks into the gym during the ceremony?

Food and drinks are not permitted in the gym during the graduation ceremony, except for water, which is allowed for both convocates and guests.

Can I leave during the ceremony?
  • Convocates are required to remain seated throughout the ceremony until a Marshal instructs you to proceed. This ensures the event runs smoothly and maintains the dignity of the occasion.
  • Guests are also asked to remain seated as much as possible throughout the ceremony to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for everyone. While we understand that occasional bathroom breaks may be necessary, frequent movement in and out of the gym can be disruptive to others.
  • Plan ahead, as guests and convocates who leave the gym may not be allowed back inside.
  • Convocates must remain for the entirety of the ceremony to receive their Alumni Gift bag. Those who leave early will not be able to collect their gift.
