Who We Are
At Lethbridge Polytechnic, we know something about making a mark, about digging deep and rising up.
We opened our doors in 1957 as Canada’s first publicly funded community college, and from the start we’ve been a groundbreaking institution that meets the needs of our students and our region.
We welcome more than 6,500 students in 65 certificate, diploma, applied degree, pre-employment and apprenticeship programs, ranging from nursing to environmental sciences, justice studies, design, agriculture, engineering technologies and more. Our students benefit from work-integrated learning and opportunities to engage in applied research, finding practical solutions to real-world problems. At Lethbridge Polytechnic, we are ready – because we know that what happens next matters most.

Our Community
Lethbridge is a city of about 110,000 people, large enough to have services you need, but small enough that you don’t have to worry about traffic jams and getting lost. Lethbridge boasts an average of 320 days of sunshine a year. Even in the cold of winter, you’ll find blue skies and bright sun to warm your spirit.
Home to both the polytechnic and a university, Lethbridge appreciates its post-secondary students for the diversity and energy they bring to the community. You’ll find there’s lots to explore from our diverse food scene to night life, city parks and cultural celebrations. Lethbridge is also within a short drive of four UNESCO World Heritage Sites:
- Waterton Lakes National Park
- Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park
- Head-Smashed-in Buffalo Jump
- Dinosaur Provincial Park
